Non-Canonical Sentences Image Series

Full color image series of animal pairs used to research sentence comprehension in young children. The images are presented in conjunction with sentences in present and past tenses. Includes 56 unique images (to view all images, please inquire by emailing em@emilybrymer.com). Created as research imagery for the University of Delaware.

These images were used as stimuli for an online comprehension task using eye tracking technology. In the study, a special camera detects which picture participants are looking at as a spoken sentence unfolds in time. By examining where people are looking in conjunction with the part of the sentence they are hearing in the moment, we can learn about how people understand sentences and what cues they use to determine sentence meaning.
